Recommended Reading for Young Children

Recommended Book Lists for Early Childhood

is compiled each year by a committee of Texas librarians. The committee's charge is to produce a list of 20 recommended books for children age two to grade two. The purpose of the list is solely to encourage free, voluntary reading. The Texas 2x2 website provides simple activities and websites to connect to each of the titles and to make reading together even more fun. The first Texas 2x2 Reading List was announced in 2000.
